Gator Connection

Bill Allen

Allen Law Firm founder Bill Allen was recruited by UF Coach Doug Dickey while playing football at Buchholz High School in Gainesville, FL. In 1979, he signed a scholarship under Coach Charley Pell and his first year as a Gator was the infamous 0-10-1 season.

While at UF, Bill was hampered by numerous knee injuries and surgeries which limited his playing time. However, with determination and perseverance, he remained on scholarship for four years and lettered for the Gators in 1982 where he was also awarded the Jimmie Sikes Scholarship Award presented:

“To the football student-athlete whose generosity and pride are continually expressed through his service to others.”

Bill graduated with high honors with a BS in Business Administration and was the recipient of numerous coaches’ academic excellence awards and two “Iron Gator” weightlifting awards. He was also very active in the Fellowship of Christian Athletes while at UF.

Coach Charley Pell wrote a letter of recommendation for Bill’s application to UF’s College of Law in 1989 which you can find here. Bill and Coach Pell remained close until Pell’s death in 2001.

“Bill Allen is exceptional, his personal constitution and immeasurable qualities have passed the toughest of tests possible.”
