Our Newest Team Member !

Please join Bill and Ginny in welcoming the newest member of the Allen Law Firm team! Their first grandchild, Brice Virginia Burchfield, was born Wednesday, September 14, 2016 at St. Dominic’s Hospital in Jackson, Mississippi. She weighed 8 pounds 4 ounces and measured 20.5 inches long.

Brice’s grateful parents are Amanda (Bill and Ginny’s daughter and an associate attorney with Allen Law Firm) and her husband, Charlie Burchfield. Amanda and Charlie chose Brice’s name, Brice Virginia, to pay homage to Ginny’s maiden name, Virginia Brice.

Fortunately and quite eventfully, the entire Allen family was able to be in Mississippi for Brice’s birth. The Sunday prior to Brice’s birthday Ginny joined Amanda and Charlie in Mississippi as they waited for Brice to make her debut. Interestingly enough, however, when Amanda went into labor on Monday, September 12th both Bill and Will (Bill and Ginny’s son and Amanda’s brother) were in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Bill was watching Will compete with the West Michigan Whitecaps, a Single A affiliate of the Detroit Tigers, in the Midwest League Divisional Championship Series.

Bill and Will did not think that they would make it to Mississippi in time for Brice’s birth when they heard that Brice was on her way Monday afternoon. There were at least two more games to play in the best-of-three series. Providentially, Amanda had an extended labor and Will’s team finished the series late Tuesday night. At 11:30 p.m., Bill and Will hopped in the truck to begin the 880-mile drive from Grand Rapids, Michigan to Jackson, Mississippi. They drove through the night and arrived at the hospital around 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday morning, just two hours before Brice was born at 1:36 p.m.!

Both Bill and Ginny are grateful for a happy, healthy delivery and have lovingly embraced the new title of “grandparents.” They enjoyed their first Christmas with their granddaughter and are looking forward to making many more memories with her in the years to come!
