Tom Copland


Tom was born and raised in Valdosta Georgia and played football at Valdosta High School, the winningest high school football program in the country. He attended the University of Central Florida in Orlando and graduated Summa Cum laude in 1983. He then attended and graduated from Cumberland Law School at Samford University in Birmingham Alabama. Cumberland holds the distinction of being the oldest law school east of the Mississippi River.

Tom has been a licensed Florida lawyer since October 1986 and moved to Alachua County, Florida in 1990 where he has continuously practiced. Over his 30 year career, Tom has handled a wide variety of case but for the last 15 years, he has focused primarily on personal injury cases and a trial practice including car, motorcycle and commercial trucking accidents as well as premises liability (e.g. slip/trip and fall), defective product claims (e.g. car crashworthiness, defective tires, bad drugs, etc.), and medical malpractice cases.

Tom, like Bill Allen, owns two motorcycles and is an avid rider and has a special interest in helping injured bikers. Tom is also a big sports fan and attends many local high schools and UF Gator sporting events. He also serves on the Board of Directors for Catholic Charities in our area. Tom and wife Gracie and son Logan enjoy living in the country and have their own animal farm including dogs, cats, horses and cows.
